Sid ... If you plan to drive your BJ8 as you would a Land Rover crossing rivers then you would follow those instructions , but for road cars it is not necessary... the movement of the diaphram moves air past the points to prevent them burning ... there is a one way valve in the cover end outlet ... hope this helps you ...
