Seat trim

My 67 BJ8 has original upolsterya dn I haven't been able to bring myself to 
recover as there are no tears and it has a wonderful patina. That sais the 
silver trim cord has yellowed over the years. (still shows silver under the 
saets) Has anyone had experience bringing the color back to silver or is the 
discoloration permanent. Thanks
