Loctite on Front Shock Bolts

Conventional wisdom seems to be to use red Loctite on the front shock retaining 
bolts. I could not find red Loctite but did lay my hands on red Permatex 
instead. Their instructions say to use heat (to 450 degrees F) on the bolts 
prior to disassembly.  

This seems to be impractical. Am I risking permanently locking these bolts in 
place if I use this stuff? Or is the real Loctite quite different?
