While "test reading" the latest batch of classic car
mags at the local Borders bookstore today I came
across the July issue of "Octane", which has a nice
four-page piece on the Pat Moss/Ann Wisdom Liege
winner, URX 727. There's an awe-inspiring picture of
the switchbacks in the Stelvio Pass, which illustrates
the enormity of the task that controlling a Big
Healey must have been. The piece is authored by
Graham Robson, who quotes Pat Moss as buying the car
for 500 pounds from BMC and selling it to David
Friswell, who owned the car for the past 25 years, for
1100 pounds. You may remember this is the car that
was auctioned at Christies last month for more than
$323,000!
