i have replaced the seal while in the car, but consider it and exercise in
futility. as old as most of these cars are, most of the steering gear shafts
have a groove in them from the seal. a new seal will work for a while but soon
it too will start to leak. if the groove is not too deep i polish out the
groove with fine sandpaper then crocus cloth. seems to be working ok on my
bj8 since i put in that penrod(?) heavy duty oil. healeymanjim
