Eric,
-Thank you for solving a longstanding mystery for me. About 15 years ago, I
went to visit my sister in Panang Malaysia for several weeks. One afternoon on
our way to the Koo kong Si (sp?) temple, there was a "mystery car" parked on
the street along the way. Since the streets of Malaysia were filled with
British cars of all types, I was looking out for anything interesting.
I noticed that the car had many of the same fittings on it that my 62 BT7 had,
and stopped to really look it over. The more I looked, the more I found parts
in common with my Healey, -but no identifying name plates. I had forgotten
that one of the features I noted at the time was the "kite" shaped grille, and
eventually had decided that it was some Austin Princess variant. -But I just
checked out the picture link you sent, and there it was! Thanks for solving
the 15 year old mystery for me. I had no idea at the time I was looking at it,
that the car was something so rare!
I suppose at some point I really should read the sections on cars that Donald
built prior to the BN1, in all of those books I have, sometime!

  Alan and all,

as far as I know 23 sportsmobiles were made. One of them (RHD) is just for
sale here in Germany. I've seen it shortly and it looks pretty reasonable,
though it could do well with a new paint job. Haven't checked the mechanics
and underneath. If anyone is interested I could make contact.
