Hi, Ted -

The fuzzy seal that goes around the front edge of the convertible top is very
similar to the door seal, but it has a larger "bulb". I believe when I first
ordered the door seal from Moss, what I got was actually the seal that goes on
the convertible top. Make sure you have the right stuff for the door.

The original furflex material had a spring steel core. The crappy
replacements available now have a soft aluminum core that doesn't hold to the
seal flange worth a damn. I tried using some barbed upholstery "grippers"
(the same things that hold the rear of the convertible top to the drain
channel), but the aluminum is too easily deformed to stay on, even with those
pressed onto the flange first. I'm about ready to rivet the whole thing
because I'm tired of the door upholstery pushing the seal off the flange.

I recently purchased replacement door seal strip for my BJ8 from Moss. The
part I received has a much thicker rubber seal than the part it replaces.

As a result, the door does not close easily. Is there another material which
should be used instead? Is it riveted in place?

  Thanks,
  Ted
