I have always used a 1 11/16" spanner on my Six, seems to fit perfect.

I use an 1 3/4" on mine and it works fine, maybe just slightly too big,
but
on that big a nut I don't think it will strip.  I have a 4 cylinder,
don't
know if the sixes are different.
