I am getting ready to rebuild by BJ8 gear box & I have a new layshaft I
bought Approx. 15 years ago from either Victoria British or Moss. Upon
examination,
I notice that the new shaft is not as smoothly finished as the original. I
can see very fine cutting marks from when it was turned to size. Also, I seem
to
recall that in the past some layshafts were not as hard as original or as
required for the application. Should I get a new one & what suppliers can be
counted on to provide the best lay shafts?
