G'day Charley
Cobbers is an ancient Australian term of endearment for good friends,
mates and the like. It came to usage during the First World War when
Australians and New Zealanders invaded Turkey at a little place in the
Dardanelles called Gallipoli. Unfortunately the British (read Winston
Churchill) planed the invasion and it was a glorious stuff up and is
celebrated with a passion every 25 April here in Australia, NZ and with
hordes of Australians and Kiwis at Gallipoli.
In my spare time I am also a freelance writer for a magazine here and
one in the US hence the need for T Bird info.
