Having had a similar problem getting the front hub bearing race off my
BN1 (the bearing race was stuck to the axle spindle and I couldn't get
in behind it to get it off), I went and got a slide hammer puller and
used that (Stuck vise grip in the bearing race and then attached the
puller to the vise grip). Before getting the slide hammer, I had
struggled for hours to get it off, after I used the slide hammer
puller.. the thing came off in two seconds, literally. You can see

Standard puller may not work because the slide hammer will get a nice
shock load to pulling the thing off. You probably want a hammer with
5 lbs to get the necessary leverage... 2 lb hammer may not be enough.
