I have a 'color correctness' question for the list. My car is a Mk1
BN7. What color(s) should the steering box and steering idler units be?
I notice that the 'body' of the steering box is cast iron, while the
top cover is aluminum (non magnetic). Meanwhile, just to make things
interesting - the body of the idler unit is cast aluminum (I think, as
it is non magnetic) and the top cover is metal !
I believe the body of the steering unit should be black with the top
cover aluminum or silver color(? need confirmation), but not sure about
the idler assy color's.
Also, I am in need of a steering unit spacer bracket (spider) part
number 1B6195 (I believe). I find none available from the usual
suspects. Anyone have a lead on where to get one of these, or would
like to sell a good used one?
