My longtime mechanic (Mike Hall of John Bull Auto) did the very same
thing with my BJ8 a few years ago. Got in there with a hacksaw and
cut the bolt.... these days you have a sawzall... use it. He swore
every Healey spring bolt he ever fixed had to be sawed off.
Funny thing... Mike never charged me by the hour, but by how much he
enjoyed doing the job or not. That job he charged me a lot for
because he hated it!!!
