My experience was that all clips are not created equal. I don't know if your
problem is the same as the problem I was having but I discovered that some
clips were made from a much stronger steel spring material and held the line
tighter. I purchase clips from several distributors over several months and
I'm sorry that I did not keep track of where the better ones came from but I
ended up with a pile of new and old clips that I sorted through looking for the
best ones. Sometimes the hole in the frame was too big and I ended up drilling
new holes and welding closed the old hole. Also, keep in mind that the clips
for the fuel line are a different size than the brake lines. Good Luck.

I have just started to install the brake lines using the "Hairpin"
clips. However once the clip is inserted and the line snapped in, the
whole thing flops and rattles around. What am I missing?
