Yep, that's what I did.  Make sure the surface is absolutely clean before
you spray, and since you're spraying onto chrome you'll probably need a
primer.  I may have etched that surface with Metal Prep before painting, but
I don't remember.

that opaque stuff is called spray can silver.  judiciously mask and respray
the entire inner lip.
