Bob -

A good trick is to apply liberal amounts of antiseize to the copper gasket
prior to assembly.  It will make a smokey mess on start up, but it will help
preserve the gasket for a very long time.  I haven't touched mine in 50k
miles.. honest... no exhaust leaks!
