The original vinyl or "leathercloth" as they called it was actually quite
thin, minimizing the puckering on outer corners, etc.

The covering is applied with a contact type cement and worked all around the
edges, contours, etc. Though I have done this job years ago with reasonably
good results, in recent years I've sent the dash to Heritage Upholstery and
Trim as one of the components I have them do. Same goes for the complete
dash top and parcel tray. On the BN7 I also send them the battery
compartment lid to trim. The extra time and labour they charge is well worth
the results achieved.

If you attempt this yourslf, use the best contact glue you can find. Some
careful heating of the corners and contours and rubbing into place with a
spoon will help to achieve a good result. The instrument and switch holes
are the last thing to cut out, easily achieved with a new Xacto blade.
Simply pierce the vinyl anywhere in the hole, take the blade to the edge and
carefully run the blade around the inside perimeter.

BT7 dash painted body colour.....I don't think so.
