My car is an HBJ7L built on Sep 4-5, 1962 and shipped to the US on Sep 17th,
(C)21172, (B)56848. I don't know of anyone who can supply a gray top. I
would go for the gray. It would look great especially with the gray frame to
say nothing of originality.

Richard I have seen your threads about your early BJ7 and latch top vs zip.
Though my car is not a concours one but nicely restored I have often wondered
the same. My question for you is slightly off the subject but more for my
personal benefit. I have been doing some in detail research on my Bj7 to
determine how rare its color combo might be. It s an original coloarado red
car with grey interior, grey hood and red pipiping on the interior and of
course grey tonneau. It is an early production date of June of 3.1962 and full
production of Bj7 was I believe in late MAy of 62. My car has the original
rear latch window top as well as parts of the original red Karvel Carpet. The
interior was dyed blackby the PO. what Ihave found to date is that a very
small batch of this color was produced and with my car being that color combo
and early production date it may be one of the first. I know that in the years
that I have been involved in Healeys, I have never seen this color combo in a
BJ7. I know that in the registry of about 900 cars none have this interior
combo. I said all of that to ask you this.... You mentioned your car was an
early production car, just curious of the date of production, number etc to
compare to mine. The challenge in determining where these cars rolled of the
line is complicated by the fact that chassis numbers from the BT7 and Bn7
overlap being produced for a period with bj7's. Though my interior is not the
color is was from new, I have been considering and pricing going back
original. Quiet frankly this car is my wifes, I have a Bj8, and the color
interior my be quite nice in grey, and quiet different. I have inquired about
rear latch window tops and have only found one place that could provide the
color top I need. Have you been able to locate a supplier who carrie other
then black? I will be glad to share my info with you, but dont have th e name
