There should be two screws, these are the screws that hold the speedo works
inside the pot. There should also be a rubber gasket inside the pot. It is
possible that by tightening this screw you disturbed the works inside, in
which case the works internals are probably loose as well. What you have to
do is take the speedo works out of the pot and check it for loose screws and
that everything is moving smoothly and probably lubricate the gear axles a
little. Which means you will have to disassemble the whole thing, or send it
to a repair shop.
It has happened to me, that's why I know.
