side lights & turn signals

I just installed the front & rear side/turn signal lights.  The front side
lights come on with the switch but the rears are just glowing.  The only
result I get from the turn signals is the relay thunk in each direction (the
first try to the left yielded a bright light from the left front and on the
the second try the light stayed constant).  Can someone recommend the best
procedure for checking and sorting this out?  Richard Bittmann BJ7 Tacoma
