Following the advise from someone on this list, I attached the hose to the 
center pipe of the spin on oil filter adapter and filled the engine with oil 
from that imput.  It is much larger than the oil pressure pipe and didn't 
take long to get oil to the rocker shaft.  I then filled the oil filter and 
I had oil pressure in about 5 seconds after starting my new engine without 
spark plugs.
