I have a somewhat steep hill on my street, but that did not work the first
time.  Pushing the car up a slight uphill 150 foot driveway if that does not
work is not fun.   It is so easy to just jack up the car, put it on good
jack stands, use the floor jack as a safety under the center of the rear
axle housing and do the procedure.  The three times that I have done this in
the past 15 years has been uneventful.

Another thing is to find a steep hill, put yourself in a lower gear which
provides braking (around 2000 + rpms) and then disengage the clutch as you
are going down the hill.  This will break it free without having to jack it
up.
