Jason,

I am an overdrive dummy, but it sounds to me as though
your BN4 is shifting into overdrive either 3rd or 4th on its own.
Have you manually flipped the OD switch from off to on when
the revs suddenly drop in 'normal driving'? Any change when
you do?

If it's not the switch then something in the OD unit is going
OD all on its own.

Logical?
