I recently purchased a new set of front disc brake pads for my BJ7. Last Sunday
I installed them according to the directions in the Haynes Workshop Manual. The
front end is still on jacks awaiting the rebuilt shocks from WW Auto. I went
into the garage this afternoon to install a few new bushings on the anti-roll
bar. I noticed a lot of spots on the shroud around the hood. After examining it
I determined it was brake fluid and it had eaten right through the paint. The
only place it could have come from was the breather hole in the resevoir. I
would guess that when I pushed the calliper pistons all the way in, that it
shot the fluid out the breather hole.
I was planning on a new paint job next summer when it's too hot to drive a
Healey in Phoenix, but I will just have to get it done sooner. Anyone know of a
good paint shop in the Phoenix area??? If you are planning on changing front
disk brake pads I would recomend draining some of the brake fluid from the
resevoir or at least place a rag over the top. Don't be a dummy like me!!! I
love these Healeys!!!
