John,

Make a few CDs of HER favorite LPs, Create a CD label (round labels fir CDs
are available at Staples, Office Max etc) and use them as stocking stuffers
for her. Perhaps she will be impressed with your thoughtfulness and the
lengths to which you went to please her with something special.

Just a thought

OK sports fans. Having no life, several days or so I threw out the question
of recording my old vinyls onto CD and got a lot of leads.

Here is what I came up with.

Amazon.com has a USB turntable manufactured by ION (whoever they are). This
turntable comes bundled with Audacity software which many of you
recommended. It came today although Amazon gave a projected date of Jan 8.
Good thing my wife went out shopping before UPS showed up.

There is extremely poor documentation on the software and the turntable's is
only slightly better. The help files are a joke. However, after a Tanquerey
martini (extra extra dry) and a sip or two or three of Merlot, I got the GD
thing to work, was able to save one of my Kenton classics to my desktop,
play it through MS Media Player and have now burned a sample CD.

Ain't technology great.

So, endorsement? I guess so. Is there something better? Probably. However
for $150 including shipping, I am happy. Now I have to explain this thing to
my wife. She had no idea she gave me an early Christmas present.
