Sounds like the diaphragm might be stiffening up between uses.  You 
might try backing-off
the adjustment; i.e. open the pump up at the valve body/solenoid 
connection, then turn the diaphragm
one or two holes counter-clockwise to loosen.

No guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try.
