Good thoughts... Thanks for your help as always.
We already checked the rod bearings and they are like new. My
mechanic suspects the centre main - he says on three bearing crank
long stroke motors it's usually the centre that goes first. He
actually says old 30's style two bearing motors are better than three
bearings.
I have some silver metal in the oil and a low end clatter in the
engine at idle... Water pump is good so...
