Yes, but was the distributor OK when the car was put away all those years
ago? If the rotor was OK then it's probably OK now. If the distributor has
been "looked at", the points may be all to hell. The first time I did my
points, I made a complete horlicks of it. Got a spark, but nothing that
would fire up a Healey. Gap was way too big.
Worth a look?

I would be willing to bet that you have a rotor that is shorting out.  Take
the distributor cap off, take the wire from the coil and put the end near
the rotor.  Turn the engine over with the ignition on and see if the spark
is conducts thru the rotor.  I have been towed twice because of a shorted
rotor.   I did find a good replacement at NAPA and I have 3 tested spares in
the car at all times.
