Hi Jim,
I've done this, many moons ago. It's a PITA--working under the dash is
one of my least favorite jobs--but it's doable. You'll have to pull the
console.
I doubt you'll able to isolate the leak without having the heater out,
and if you could you'd probably have to pull the heater anyway to fix
it. I'd replace everything replaceable whilst you have it out,
including the hoses if they're more than a couple years old.
