You are in luck - this looks to be almost exactly what you decribe.
These are photos of the add-on console that the previous owner of my
tri-carb made for the car many years ago. It's a top-shift car, so the same
plan should work for your BJ7, as the photos illustrate. The finish
materials and design are pretty 'hokey', but one could easily remedy that
with better finishing.
