Michael:  I periodically clean my engine with a pressure gun and Gunk. 
After having the same problem when I first started doing this, I found that 
the answer was compressed air.  You need to get all the water out of the 
electrical system that you can and that includes the spark plug wires at the 
engine, inside the distributor, the spark plug wires where they enter the 
cap, and the coil where the high tension wire enters the coil (unscrew the 
connector and blow the moisture out of the coil where the wire enters). 
That has worked for me.
