to get Doug Reid's bleeder extension.

Norm, Tom, Skip,

Thanks for your advice.  The floor behind the master cylinder was dry,
and there was fluid behind the slave cylinder's dust boot.    Looks
like the slave cylinder is due for a bit of work.

In the meantime,  bleeding the system and getting a firm pedal using
tip #2 on p. 207 of Norm's book worked like a charm.
