John, Makes some sense - when the nut is loose, there is a 'variable leak' in
the line pressure, and so you would expect the needle to vary.
A tight line with no leakes means a constant fluid pressure at the guage [as
delivered by the pump at a given rpm] and hence a constant guage reading.
