Actually I don't think it is either.
The thread is 3/8" x 28 T.P.I. whereas BSF is 3/8" x 24 T.P.I. I was able to
buy a tap for it many years ago after discovering that 3/8" x 24 just would
not do the job!!
Why on earth they used such a fine thread in aluminum I have no idea but I
guess someone had a "better idea".
