Illinois has a five year license. I really haven't looked at the rules, but
generally it seems to be "events and maintenance" only. Someone said that
any excuse when stopped will do.I don't drive the Healey much since my
American car was hit twice by inattentive drivers. The Healey is worth more
than the two American cars, the MGBGT, and the MGC added together. I usually
drive the MGBGT.

I was stopped once by an Illinois State trouper on the Tri-State tollway. I
was driving at leas 20 miles per her over the posted speed limit trying to
catch up with the rest of the caravan. When I was slowing down I figured I
was in deep trouble over speeding, but much to my surprise he ignored my
speeding and told me I was weaving in and out of traffic. He then asked my
where I was coming from. Our Healey club had decided to follow the Around
the Wold in 80 Days rally to Bay City, Michigan, and we were coming back
from there. I started to tell him about the fun of driving 80 miles an hour
In a heavy downpour over two lane back roads in Michigan's Upper Peninsula,
when he cut ;me short. In retrospect I figure he was testing my use of the
car for appropriate use. Much to my surprise he let me go with a waning. I
never did catch up to the group.

One problem of owning an unusual car is that you are sometime stopped
because the officer wants to look at the car.
