Dick,
I have made an adjustable side rod to get the tight spot back to the center
via trial and error. It gave me ok steering for another couple of years, but
it seems to have moved again. I think the Welch gear is the way to go.

Back to the (Bj8) steering box, is having to set free play to one side of the
tight spot of the worm gear a common issue.  What what is the solution.  Is
that what the Dennis Welch worm gear is all about.
