My parking brake - even though the rear drums are adjusted to drag slightly - 
has always barely caught in an almost 
vertical position. Not anywhere close to the "3-clicks up" position as desired.

In the process of installing my Supra W58 tranny, I discovered the internal 
mount for the handbrake lever was broken - 
the weld had come loose from the frame x-member, allowing quite a lot of free 
rotation before the lever caught.

I made a clamp-on reinforcing bracket and now the brake functions just like 
emergency brakes on other cars - it'll 
definitely hold the car on a hill.
