Hi all,
Last Saturday, in the middle of a club-tour, my car refused to start.
Since my battery was suspect, I bought a new one.
After installation, when trying to start, the rubber protection on the
starter-relay
started to smoke and melt: the startermotor didn't turn.
I suspect that I want to buy a new startermotor ( ;-))).
Question: do I want an original Lucas or one of the new high-torque ones??
And: do the high torque-ones fit? I had a hard time getting the Lucas-one
out the
car - a BJ8 (had to dismantle the oilfilter and the brake-booster).
I fully suspect lots of experience of you guys with this dilemma.
(to add: the high-torque starters are cheaper than the Lucas ones).
Thanks for advice.
Berry
