Your second paragraph is not quite correct, Gary. The change to separate
indicator lights on BJ8s became effective at body number 76138 for cars NOT
going to Germany or Sweden, according to the BMC parts manual for BJ7/BJ8.
BMIHT data records body number 76138 for BOTH chassis 31259 and 31336.
Obviously, one of those is a mistake, but that's what the record shows.
However, because no effort was made to ensure that body numbers increased in
sequence with chassis numbers, some cars with lower chassis numbers than
either 31259 or 31336 got the separate indicators, depending on what their
body numbers were.

In the ledger books available to the public at the BMIHT museum, data is
entered by chassis number, with the numbers increasing down the page.
Someone has drawn a line under 31335 and above 31336 with the note: "All
cars from line are new-type bodies with modified flasher units". Possibly
it was Anders Clausager himself who drew the line and made the note; but in
any event, if the parts manual (the change information of which would have
been based on production planning) is to be believed, it is not valid to
make a dividing line between 31335 and 31336 for the light configuration.
For example chassis 31210 has body 76149 and has the separate indicators
front and rear, per the parts manual. Ditto chassis 31260, body number
76139.

Your confusion starts with the assumption that somehow Healeys were
produced in "Model Years" and that all changes were made at the change in
model year.
The "Year" that the cars were registered as, is only coincidentally related
to the year in which the car was actually built.

In fact, the change in turn signal styles on the BJ8s was made at Chassis
31336 in March 1965. So if your chassis number is later than that, then you
should have the separate sidelights and signal lights. If the chassis number
is lower than that, then you have the single style.
