DAP Weldwood Contact Cement has not worked well for me when gluing to newly
painted metal. My bodyshop guy (he restores Jaguars) uses Landau Contact
Cement. You will find this to be a better product for vinyl and armacord,
although you may not want the spray grade as per the link below.
