I think a roadster is a car on which the top disappears into the body when =
not erected. It can be on an attached frame or completely removable, but i=
t it's not seen when it's down.

Len it's a convertible. Although in modern use any two seat convertible is =
called a roadster. My BN4 is a roadster. Door blends into front cowl withou=
t interruption of window vent or terminated dash.

Long ago, someone told me that my Healey was a roadster and I have been cal=
ling it that ever since. My California registration certificate lists the =
Body Type Model as "RD" (roadster?). Here is what my BL Heritage certifica=
te says:

"Thank you for your enquiry of 17 August concerning your Austin-Healey 3000=
 Mark III convertible".

(Note that Austin-Healey has the hyphen. I'm talking August, 1982, here)

A convertible has a retractible hood that is affixed to the car and roll up=
windows. A roadster (which hardly ever has the top up!!) has a removable h=
ood, stowed in the rear, with side curtains. I am befuddled at the need (de=
sire?) to change everything. IMHO.

Cheers,

That's too difficult, not fair ;-). Is the frame also fixed to the car? Sor=
ry for my ignorance, but BN2:s doesn't grow on trees over here. Admit that =
there are a few around, but as I also always have seen them as roadsters I'=
ve never thought about it.

So what is a BN2? It has an erectable hood, and it's most definitely fixed=
to the car (by 6 bolts)? I always considered it a roadster, just like my =
dad's Model A.

I think we have to get the definitions right. A convertible is a vehicle th=
at has a removable top, but the top is fixed to the car. Like the case is w=
ith BJ7 and BJ8. The BT7 is a roadster, meaning that the top is removable, =
and is not fixed to the vehicle. I suggest a simple Googling on this and yo=
u will get the terms right.
