Hello Bill,
I suspect you have the original 3speed gearbox installed.
The gearbox has a design fault, as there is no real vent in the gearbox=20
casing, so higher inside pressure when oil gets hot can=C2=B4t evaporate as=
 its=20
should. So oil moves through any gap to find. When you get your leak closed=
=20
at the clutch ring it will press out somewhere else. You can=C2=B4t avoid i=
t.=20
The usual way out for the oil is at the clutch ring.

Before everyone leaves and the lights are turned off I have a question I'd=

like to ask about the Laycock De Normanville  overdrive. I have my=20
transmission out out and realize I need to do a certain amount of=20
disassembly of the OD because it is seeping oil at the clutch ring. There=
=20
are no gaskets, but I would like to smear some Hylomar on the joint faces=
=20
to stop the leak. If I remove the rear OD housing will there be enough=20
clearance between the clutch ring and the clutch lining to allow me to move=
=20
the ring away from the casing far enough to clean and seal the front=20
surface without removing the entire OD and disassembling it?

I started out to rebuild the engine and just keep finding more work needing=
=20
to be done...
