I have Lempert gears in my BJ7, installed many years ago by Fred Crowley.
They are not noisy at all, so I doubt there is anything inherent in the
gear ratio that would cause them to make noise.  Since everything was fine
before the new gears were installed, I'd suspect the installation.  Try
taking them back to the installer and see if he can check the mesh of the
gears to see if it's to spec.
