[Healeys] Healey model question

Some of you might already have a 1/48 ? scale Vitese model of a 3000 mk2 in 
white over red. The red also covers the front wheel arch not like a real car. 
What is a good way to remove that small strip of red to reveal the white 
underneath? sand paper? lacquer thinner?Thanks,Ken Freese65 BJ8
