(2.1875) across flats. However it is also an octagonal (8 sided) nut =

Just checked the socket for mine (BJ8) and it is 2 1/4"----if I know =
what you are referring to.  This is for the thin nut that goes over the =
axle shaft. =20

The 2 1/8 inch dimension is much too big for the rear hub nut, which =
from memory is something around 35 or 36 mm which is between 1 =C2=BC =
and 1 =C2=BD inches
