I have seen posts saying that if the rubber seal is pushed into the channel
inch by inch (as opposed to slid into it) it can be made to conform to the
compound curve formed by the scuttle.  But i dont see how a rubber seal
that is cut off of a roll such as that sold by "the usual suspects" can
possibly do that.

In any case I am interested to learn what SC says as I would like to lose
the scoop.
