My race car engine building, Butch Gilbert, died a year ago of cancer. Wit=
h knowledge of his situation he spent his last active six months driving hi=
s two own race cars on all the great East Coast trips, traveling with his w=
ife and career-long crew chief.I'm doubting these two observations suggest =
a trend of engine builders dying of cancer; the real trend is that so many =
of these great craftsmen =E2=80=93 engine builders, machine shop gurus, gen=
erator/starter specialists, paint and body experts and so forth -- are reac=
hing the ends of their natural lives with no younger people to replace them=

A few years back, there was a discussion here on idle oil pressure.=20
This has been a sad week, "Uncle" Pete Molloy lost his battle with brain ca=
ncer and passed away at 84 years.=20
Uncle Pete built my Healey 3000 engine 21 years ago, almost to the day, and=
it still has more pull than a busload of schoolboys. And it's oil pressure=
is still awesome.=20
