There are many things that affect the selection of the blade design besides=
 efficiency. Such as, strength, cost of manufacturing, noise generation, de=
sired CFM at a specific resistance, (pressure drop), marketability to name =
a few.=C2=A0
I have a "Spal" brand of fan. Because it appeared to be high quality, was t=
hin enough to fit in front of my radiator & produced a relatively high CFM =
at about .25" pressure drop.

oling of the Healey Duncan. Nothing highly unusual with it in that it=E2=80=
=99s a Riley 2.4 litre engine and unpressurised. =C2=A0Part of the process =
is to replace the existing Kenlowe electric fan with a more modern unit. Th=
e Kenlow sits over an inch from the radiator surface while a modern unit sh=
ould only be a few millimetres. Of course it was never fitted with an elect=
ric fan when new, but it=E2=80=99s simply not coping with the warmer Austra=
lian climate. =C2=A0I will be doing all sorts of wonderful things like remo=
ving the cylinder head to replace the cooling tube between number two and t=
hree combustion chamber, refurbishing the radiator, rodding the block etc e=
tc. =C2=A0The question that=E2=80=99s on my mind concerns whether to instal=
l an electric fan with curved or straight blades. Australian manufacturer D=
avies Craig says that straight blades are best, but they would say that as =
that=E2=80=99s what they make. =C2=A0Anyone undertaken any research as to w=
