The standard copper washers should work fine to seal the bolt head. =
However, you need to use new ones or anneal the old ones before you =
reuse them. Heat them up until they are red hot and immediately quench =
them in cold water. Also, don=E2=80=99t over torque the bolt.

Looking for some advice.
Am in the process of chasing down an old leak on the front/gen. side =
cover on my BJ8.
Plan is a new gasket with Hylomar; new bolts with thread sealant and new =
crush washers.

Query is tighening and orientation of the crush washers. Harold =
suggested snugging them up then about another 1/4 turn.
Is there perhaps an accepted torque setting ?
Also correct orientation of the washers - they don't appear to be =
symmetrical - there is thinner side about the center.
