Only had to look at the first photo to make a recommendation. If you what =
to learn how to rebuild any item, its best to take it apart. An engine that=
has been dismantled by someone else removes the grade school and middle sc=
hool learning experience and you have to jump into high school, maybe unive=
rsity, depending what you are rebuilding.
Just my 2 cents (US of course)

I have often lingered over the idea of buying a 3000 engine to rebuild. Mor=
e or less as a challenge/hobby. And to teach myself how to do it=E2=80=A6ie=
to move from theory into practise. But these engines are not cheap and the=
y=E2=80=99re not getting any cheaper.
So =E2=80=93 and I=E2=80=99d be obliged if you all forebore the temptation =
to buy it! =E2=80=93 this is currently on UK eBay. I just don=E2=80=99t kno=
w enough to judge it. Getting those pistons out seems to have involved some=
thing fairly drastic. (Good old Amatol perhaps?)
Does anyone have any advice=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6? Is this a =E2=80=9CDon=E2=80=
=99t touch it with a barge pole. It=E2=80=99s probably wrecked.=E2=80=9D Or=
=E2=80=9CCould be a good cheap start point to an expensive project=E2=80=
=9D. Or what=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6..
